01 / CAPABILITIES

Explore the design in depth.

01

Design the cavity.

Arrange mirrors, lenses, crystals, and apertures in a simple table. Adjust parameters and explore how beam size and geometric cavity stability respond.

02

Predict laser output.

Explore pump absorption, gain saturation, reabsorption in materials such as Yb:YAG, and mode competition with calculations resolved across the crystal.

03

Account for the heat.

Couple laser operation to finite-element thermal and stress calculations. Investigate thermal lensing, depolarisation, aberration losses, and high-power roll-over.

04

Follow the pulse.

Explore Q-switched pulse energy, duration, peak power, and pulse-to-pulse behavior. Track a mode-locked pulse through cavity elements, including dispersion, and assess pulse-train stability or the onset of Q-switching.

02 / BUILT TO EXPLORE

Investigate the laser
as a coupled system.

The first alpha brings together cavity design, output prediction, thermal analysis, and time-domain pulse dynamics for engineers, researchers, and students.

Thermal and stress models cover rods, thin disks, slabs, and cryogenically cooled crystals. Detailed results depend on the model assumptions and supported operating regime.

PLANNED INTEGRATION

Connect layout and simulation.

ShadCAD is being developed to send optical layouts to Holtzman for simulation and display the results back in ShadCAD. Integration timing will be announced separately.
